There are millions of germs in your mouth right now! Everyone has these 'bugs' and they will always be with us. This little secret will add years to your life and it is so easy...
From your first bite of food (for every meal or snack you eat) the bacteria in your mouth are having a big party! These germs instantly convert the sugars (carbohydrates) into energy for themselves and leave acids and poisons as waste products. The poisons are an irritant to your gums and cause an immediate response from your body's immune system.
This response is called INFLAMMATION. Inflammation is the reason we get sick, experience any pain or swelling and quite often, it ultimately results in death. Reducing inflammation is one of the most important factors in living a long life.
Back to your mouth, the germs have been pumping out toxic chemicals for 20 to 40 minutes after the last bite of food. This process of eating, germs releasing poisons, then gum inflammation- occurs over and over and over. If you don't do anything to interfere with this process, eventually, your body will respond by causing breakdown of the gum-related supporting tissues. Your gums will get increasingly red and often bleed during brushing. Worse, the bone that supports your teeth will resorb (shrink) permanently. This is gum disease, the most common disease afflicting humans.
Read this carefully: the inflammation in your gums spreads throughout your body. We know that long standing inflammation from gum disease will cause or worsen cardiac disease! Again, if you have inflammation in your mouth.... you have inflammation surrounding your heart. This is known as the "ORAL - SYSTEMIC CONNECTION" and mountains of information are available. Ask Dr. Oz, he will tell you the same thing.

Does Your Dentist Really Know You?
To truly be effective, your dentist should be thought of as a trusted friend. Does your dentist really take the time to get to know you and your family? Forty years ago, doctors were able to take the time to be close to their patients. They knew your mom and dad, and could talk to you about your life and family. It seems that those days are long gone. These days, medical and dental practices are more like factories and we are often treated like a number, not a person.
This will never happen in my dental practice!
I have always believed that as a health care provider, I have a wonderful opportunity to get to know my patients. I always think of the days when I was a child and our beloved family physician would come to my house if I was sick. We ALWAYS take the time to talk to our patients at every visit. I personally spend an average of an hour and a half with every adult (less time is necessary for children and we love to treat kids!) that enters our practice as a new patient. It may seem like a long time, but I am able to learn everything about you that affects your dental health. Don't forget that your mouth is a 'door' into the rest of your body. If you have any dental problems, gum disease, inflammation or even minor issues, there will be damaging affects to your overall health.
Our doors are open for anyone interested in finding the right path to excellent dental health. Call us, make an appointment or just stop in and say "hi!" You'll see very quickly that we are DIFFERENT from any other dental practice you have ever encountered.
